Young dog lovers Charlie and Georgie Donnor-Broom, aged 12 and 10 from Thirsk and their canine companions, Hedges and Yoyo, both Labradors, had a ‘pawsome’ start to their summer holidays, with an action-packed week of activities at the Young Kennel Club (YKC) Summer Camp.
Charlie and Georgie joined more than 200 other youngsters who attended throughout the week, aged between six and 17, all with a shared love of dogs, for a week at Summer Camp, held from 26 July – 1 August at Rutland Showground in Oakham, Rutland.
As well as brushing up on skills and training across a range of canine activities, including agility, hoopers, handling and heelwork to music, and plenty of social activities alongside a packed educational programme, members also had the unique opportunity to qualify for Crufts 2026.
Charlie said: “I really enjoyed YKC Camp, I learnt a lot and had lots of fun. My highlight was taking part in obedience, and I learnt lots of new skills and made lots of new friends.”
